Amanda Brugel

Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast during Season 1 of the series and just occasionally. The actress has been a cast part of the cast ever since. In discussing her role and its similarities to real life, Brugel could identify with racism as well as the discrimination she's faced in other areas of her life. She stated: "I lean heavily on race, and as I said, I've been through situations in which it felt as if I was treated as being a slave simply because I'm African-American." I've never experienced physical abuse on the streets due to my race. But I've definitely had my words abused. In the series I'll employ any variety of racial epithets or slurs that have caused me to believe that someone's hit me. "I have this experience almost in every scene, because it's as if she's getting punched at least one time throughout the entire scene."
