Adele

AdeleAdele Mara (April 28, 1923 (April 28, 1923 - May 7, 2010 in the USA) was an American singer and actress. She was a part of films in the 1940s and 1950s and also on television in 1950s and 1960s. Under the professional name of Adele St. Mara, she signed a contract with Columbia Pictures [citation required] and gained experience working in the studio's "B" features as well as comedy shorts. The name was then changed to Adele Mara. One of Mara's first roles was that of a receptionist in the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. She is the lead female role in Alias Boston Blackie (1942) and plays the sister of an wrongly accused and escaped prisoner. After her Columbia contract was up and she was transferred to Republic Pictures where she was frequent in outdoor adventure films and westerns. She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch which starred John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima in which John Agar's love interestis played by John Wayne, California Passage, and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
